Exotic citizen of the world Barack Obama is taking a page out of Chinese and South Korean playbooks and encouraging supporters to sign up to hear about his VP choice via text message.

It’s actually a pretty smart move on Obama’s part – American use of the text message as a primary means of communication is only now reaching near the levels it’s been at for years in some Asian countries, and the only way that a political party is going to build up a useful base of text messagers (and cell phone users for future polling and voter outreach) on a national level is through use of a presidential campaign’s scope and interest level.

Now if only he’d let me know where he’s @ 4 teh 820 dark nite…
