Sara Mead takes a closer look at McCain’s just announced education policy and basically finds that it’s pretty lacking in policy. That’s not even to say that it’s wrong, it’s just not adequate to fulfill the goals that McCain himself has laid out for it, and often doesn’t even address the big questions in education (like NCLB, testing, etc).
On some level, it’s odd to expect presidential candidates to have a coherent policy agenda on literally everything. But if McCain doesn’t really want to deal with education policy and would prefer to leave it up to Congress, he should just say that rather than pretending he has a position.
