The American Prospect is an independent, non-profit newsroom devoted to promoting informed discussion on public policy from a progressive perspective. In our print magazine and online, the Prospect brings a narrative, journalistic approach to complex issues, addressing the policy alternatives and the politics necessary to create good legislation.

For more information about our origins, founders, Board of Directors, mission, and more, visit our “About” page.

We have no shareholders, no parent company, and no billionaire owners to answer to. Our Board of Directors and staff work hard to keep us independent, allowing us to continue to deliver journalism that is free from undue influence.

Our headquarters are in Washington, D.C., though we have staff and contributing writers who live across the U.S. and internationally.
