Analyzing “10 high-quality polls” that have been conducted since the Denver debate, Nate Silver observed on Sunday that Obama holds a 9-point advantage among women, and Romney holds a 9-point advantage among men. Put another way, if only women decided, Silver says Obama would “be on track for a landslide re-election.” And if it were up to men only, “Mr. Obama would be biding his time until a crushing defeat….”
Silver says the 18-point spread is one of the largest in history. It is smaller only than it was in 2000, when there was a 20-point difference. But it’s larger than 1980 and 1996, which each saw a 17-point chasm.
