• Obama apparently told the Teamsters he’d consider loosening federal supervision of their activities. As Christopher Beam says, this is a rather artful “soft pander.” I don’t have any idea about the merits of the issue, but it hardly seems appropriate for a presidential candidate to be saying things like this about an ongoing judicial process.
  • Misadventures with Photoshop: A Clinton campaign ad apparently flipped an image of a gun resulting in a depiction of a non-existent left-handed version of the weapon. It’s also (and could you really make this up?) a super-fancy German weapon with a special modification that’s popular in Europe but rare in the U.S. If we’re going to talk about pointless silliness, couldn’t it all be this fun?
  • Ron Paul likes Obama’s foreign policy but isn’t willing to endorse.
  • This 2005 quote from Hillary Clinton supporting a long-term U.S. presence in Iraq is eerily similar to John McCain‘s 100-years argument.
  • If it’s a big deal that Obama once ate with former terrorist Bill Ayers, shouldn’t it be a big deal that McCain is close with borderline-fascist, admirer of the Waco Branch Davidians, and Watergate mastermind G. Gordon Liddy?
  • Americans are getting all up on that registering to vote thing.
  • Bob Corker, the guy who barely beat Harold Ford Jr. thanks to a series of race-baiting ads, calls McCain’s gas tax plan “pandering extraordinaire.”
  • On the Democratic side, Clinton and Obama are both doubling down on gas taxes (Obama’s ad quotes, correctly, fellow Prospect blogger Dean Baker), while polls show a majority of voters think a gas tax cut is a bad idea (yay voters!).
  • Ariana Huffington says John McCain told her he didn’t vote for Bush in 2000.
