This is by far the weirdest speech I’ve ever heard. Captain Leslie Smith was serving overseas. She developed a blood clot. She almost died. A medicine was administered. She didn’t die. Her left foot was amputated. “I often asked myself why me,” she said. “The most liberating day of my life when when I started asking ‘why not me?’ This is the greatest country in the world. A country where you are free to succeed or fail on your own hard work.” Do Republicans really think blood clots are proof of the American Dream?
