Live Earth has received a helping of criticism for being a rather unfocused endeavor (see this Rolling Stone write-up for a good summary), which is wholly unfair. If arresting global climate change requires a coordinated effort of individuals businesses and governments across the world, broad public support for "doing something" will almost certainly be a prerequisite for meaningful change. Simply maximizing the number of people who think that global warming is worth fixing is the most important task right now. If that means that the message is rather nebulous, so be it.
