Last night on Hardball, I argued that you could vastly increase the effectiveness of immigration enforcement if illegal immigrants who snitched on their employers were rewarded with a green card for doing so. The pool of jobs for the undocumented would dry up in a month. This is an idea I originally got from the blogosphere’s own Mark Kleiman, whose post on reducing illegal immigration remains one of the best things I’ve read on the subject.
