The Prospect is looking for two young talents who want to be part of the most storied and successful writing fellowship program in American journalism.
For the past quarter-century, the Prospect’s two-year Writing Fellows Program has enabled young writers to develop their skills under an intensive mentoring program that is widely regarded as one of the foremost springboards to fulfilling and impactful careers in journalism and the academy.
Program alumni include Ezra Klein and Matt Yglesias at Vox; Jamelle Bouie, Dana Goldstein and Nick Confessore at The New York Times; Kate Sheppard at HuffPost; Adam Serwer at The Atlantic; Richard Just and Chris Mooney at The Washington Post; Sasha Polakow-Suransky at Foreign Policy; Patrick Caldwell at Mother Jones; freelancer Rachel M. Cohen; and Jed Purdy at Columbia Law School.
Fellows work out of the magazine's office in Washington, D.C., where they regularly contribute a wide range of pieces with the guidance of our senior editors and the back-and-forth with their peers.
The program runs from this summer through June 2021.
We seek candidates with strong writing and analytical abilities who will generate story ideas as well as take assignments. A passion for politics and policy is a prerequisite. Prior journalism experience is encouraged but not required. We are committed to a diverse workplace and we support our people with ongoing career-development opportunities.
Our goal is to ensure TAP fellows develop the relationships, credibility, quality of writing, and more than enough clips to pursue a career in journalism. The fellowship pays an annual salary of $38,000 and includes health, dental, and vision benefits.
