In “No more jury trials for terrorists,” Townhall.com columnist Michelle
Malkin argues for secret military trials to bring terrorism suspects to justice;
here is what she had to say about those who favor due process:
This is the kind of “justice” the American apologists for terrorism
seek. They believe all will be right with the world when Osama bin Laden is
whistling behind bars, growing his beard to the floor, writing his memoirs, and
breaking bread with kindred congressional visitors like Barbara Lee, Cynthia
McKinney and Jim McDermott.

October 15, 2001 — Hijack This
Traditional Values Coalition founder Rev. Lou Sheldon thinks private and public
relief agencies dealing with the September 11 terrorist attacks, “should be first
giving priority to those widows who were at home with their babies and those
widowers who lost their wives,” not gays and lesbians who lost loved ones,
according to The
Washington Post.
Assistance “should be given on the basis and priority of one man and one woman in
a marital relationship,” he added, just to clear up any confusion.
Sheldon then went on to accuse gay organizations seeking to lobby for the
surviving partners of those killed of “taking advantage of this national tragedy
to promote their agenda.”
In a related outrage: Someone scribbled the anti-gay slur, “HIGH JACK THIS FAGS”
on a bomb meant for a future air strike in Afghanistan. The Associated
Press captured the photo.
September 24, 2001 — O’Beirne is No Hero
National Review columnist Kate O’Beirne uses the tragedy as yet another
vehicle for attacking feminism. She writes:
“I wonder how many frustrated reporters searched just as desperately for a
battle-scarred woman in uniform so there might be a pleasing politically correct
Manhattan hero, but found only men doing the dangerous, demanding, dirty work of
men.”
O’Beirne concedes that 36 women do serve in New York City’s fire department, but,
she says, only because of a sustained feminist assault on performance standards.
Worse still, according to O’Beirne, has been our military’s response to feminist
demands:
“The military has adopted gender-normed scoring on physical tests and enlistment
quotas to boost the number of women in the ranks. Kumbaya confidence courses have
replaced ego-bruising obstacle challenges. Let’s hope that stepstools will be
provided for female soldiers in Afghanistan.”
