New York Daily News Columnist Michael Goodwin has jumped the freaking shark:

The first time I saw the swirling logo for the Nuclear Security Summit, it looked familiar. I soon figured out what it reminded me of: a crescent moon.

[…]

Obama has been open about his aim to improve America’s relations with Muslims. His bowing and apologies are nauseating, but they are consistent with his goal.

And so is having a crescent-like logo at an event attended by Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani … among others. The Washington Conference Center is plastered with the design, which includes a solid white circle above the arc, all superimposed on a world map.

For the play Fires in the Mirror, which explores the aftermath of the 1991 Crown Heights Riot, Anna Deveare Smith interviewed a number of black and Jewish residents and turned those interviews into monologues she performed on stage. The catalyst for the conflict was a car crash in which a Jewish driver ran over a black child while speeding.

In one of the monologues, Smith portrays a black Crown Heights resident who witnessed the accident. The character is angry, ranting about how the Jews always get away with everything because the own the police, and you can tell because the Israeli flag, which is blue and white, is the same color as the police cars.

I see no real distinction between the quality of these arguments other than the fact that you’d expect a newspaper columnist, not driven mad with grief and anger over having witnessed the death of a child, to be more lucid.
