Fifty years ago today, a white mob attacked a busload of freedom riders in Montgomery, Alabama. Yesterday, Tea Party Senate candidate Rand Paul said he opposed the provisions of the 1964 Civil Rights Act that barred businesses from discriminating against blacks — a position he backed down from today.
