Via David Cantanese, a St. Louis, Missouri, alt-weekly called the Riverfront Times digs deep into an important investigative question about Sarah Steelman, a Republican who wants to unseat Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill.

On Twitter, [KMOX talk-show host Mark] Reardon called the interview a ‘disaster.’ And, as politico.com reports, on air, the host huffed that, although Steelman is hot, she ‘isn’t exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.’

Which got us wondering: Just how hot is Sarah Steelman? Is she Sarah Palin hot? Nikki Haley hot? Or — be still our hearts! — Kirsten Gillibrand hot?

The story’s writer, Sarah Fenske, then goes on to issue a disclaimer that just because the paper just asked a sexist question, it doesn’t mean they’re sexist. But, clearly, Steelman’s looks are going to be an issue, Fenske writes.

Is Sarah Steelman too hot for politics — or do we only think she’s hot because she’s a relatively attractive woman in a profession that, until recent years, had few of them?
