The netroots and geek culture may not be in perfect alignment, butthere's definitely a good bit of overlap, at least judging by the ratioof American Idol-blogging to BSG-blogging. Thus, readers may beinterested to know that Elizabeth Edwards is, in fact, a big dork (and I use that as a term of endearment ... think of it as a empowerment-through-"reclaiming") and even says she participated in an old USENET newsgroup that sounds suspiciously like alt.usage.english
. Google Groups can't find anything she wrote, so perhaps she was just a lurker. Nonetheless, that's old school.
Now if we can just get Ms Edwards to start playing World of Warcraft, she'll be able to tap into a constituency larger than the number of farmers in the country*.
* Yes, those farmers are important; they areoften the primary export in rural America. But hey, the hourly wage inEverquest is below the minimum wage, so perhaps there is an angle for the Edwards campaign after all. Silver piece farmers of Norrath, unite!
