Or maybe it's more like fantasy. Who knows? Maybe someone out there has numbers on this, but, since immigration and social security are destined to get pulled back into political contention in the next couple years, doesn't it seem clear that a good, healthy, liberal, pro-immigration, open-or-nearly-open border/amnesty policy would, by legitimizing (and taxing) millions of young workers, make a huge dent in the "pay-in" problem that conservatives (incorrectly) seem to think is killing social security? Has anybody made this a point of rhetoric yet? My guess is that somebody has, and I'm just WAY behind the curve on this stuff (because I'm usually WAY behind the curve on most things). But if not, it might be a fun way to make conservatives seem more anti-old people and anti-immigrant than they already do.
