A little over a month ago I wrote a post at the Thinkery lamenting the way American politicians have decided to make the Iraqi government the scapegoat for all of our problems over there. I quoted the following from a WaPo article:
The Washington commentariathas suggested recently that Bush seems ready to pronounce the imminentend of his “surge,” which by several accounts has failed both to securelarge parts of Baghdad and, on a more strategic level, to prod the still-paralyzed Iraqi government to govern. (emphasis mine)
The ridiculous notion that Bush appeared "ready to pronounce the imminent end of his 'surge'" aside, the idea that Iraq's government just needs a good prodding to end its apparently self-imposed paralysis is detestable.
