Warrior for Freedom Michelle Bachmann bravely went on Hardball last week, insisted that the media do an "investigation" into liberal members of congress to discern whether or not they have "anti-American" views, and accused Obama of having "anti-American" views. After her opponent raised mad money -- nearly a millon dollars -- Bachmann claimed she never said anything of the sort:
Despite the way the blogs and the Democratic Party are spinning it, I never called all liberals anti-American, I never questioned Barack Obama's patriotism, and I never asked for some House Un-American Activities Committee witch hunt into my colleagues in Congress.
Yesterday, another brave American hero spoke up. The valiant Rep. Robin Hayes told a crowd in North Carolina that “liberals hate real Americans that work and achieve and believe in G-d.” This is exactly what I told my mother before services on Yom Kippur, and I'm really happy to see that our representatives in Washington understand what's going on here.
Unfortunately, speaking through an aide, Hayes later denied he made the statement at all. Politico, however, has the audio, which means that future generations will be able to revel in Hayes' immense courage.
Still, we need better McCarthyites. The real Joe McCarthy would never have cowed in the face of liberal traitor money, let alone deny having exposed the turncoats in the first place. It saddens me that Bachmann and Hayes feel like keeping their seats in Congress is more important than exposing the fifth column of American liberalism for what it is -- a group of people devoted to opposing the Republican American agenda and implementing their own policy ideas. Otherwise, people might be taken in by the anti-Americanism of universal health care coverage and a socialist tax rate that is 3+ percent higher than our current one. Isn't protecting the country from treason more important?
