Everyone always says the fact that cell phone users aren't included in most polls will bias the results but then it never does. Jon Chait, however, points to Nate Silver's analysis comparing polls with cell users and polls without cell users which finds a consistent 2.8 percent depression of Obama's total in polls where cell phone users are excluded. That's pretty significant -- larger, in fact, than Obama's current lead in the RCP average. As someone who only owns a cell phone, and mainly knows people who only own cell phones, that makes sense to me, but I guess we'll see. When this election is over, there's sure going to be a lot of data for people interested in comparing various polling methodologies. Nate Silver will be busy.
