Of course, the problem with the Hillary Clinton/John Edwards candid camera moment is that it might actually be a good idea. It's very difficult to have anything resembling a conversation with eight candidates on stage for ninety minutes. Moving to two debates of 60 or 75 minutes each, with four candidates per debate, would probably result in a more substantive back-and-forth.
Also note this nice bit of buck-passing from HRC: "'I think he has some ideas about what he'd like to do,' she said,referring to Mr. Edwards, according to a dispatch from the AssociatedPress." Clinton had nothing to do with it. She was having a conversation! Oy.
