Jamil Smith reminds us that, for all the controversy about Common visiting the White House, NWA's Eazy E was once invited to attend a luncheon with George H.W. Bush. NWA of course, was about as anti-police as rapping gets--their song "Fuck Tha PoliceThis incidentally, lead to an awesome reimagining of the incident by The Game in the song Dreams where he raps "The Dream of Huey Newton/that's what I'm livin' through/The Dream of Eric Wright, that's what I'm givin' you/ Who walk through the Whitehouse without a business suit/Compton had jheri curl drippin' on Ronald Reagan's shoes."
The only explanation I can give for why The Game thought Eazy met Reagan instead of Bush is that most black people really, really don't like Reagan, who achieved a level of iconic villainy that his successor never did, and so Eazy letting his jheri curl drip on Reagan's shoes would have been much more satisfying.
