Elizabeth Edwards has some questions for John McCain and Doug Holtz-Eakin as to the real nature of the McCain health care proposal. Some of them, I can even answer! For instance, Elizabeth asks, "would any health insurer be required to sell you or me (or those like us with pre-existing conditions) a health insurance policy?" The answer is no! Similarly, she wonders, "Isn’t the type of competition you are talking about really a rush to the bottom?" Yes! The sad thing is that there's not a shadow of doubt in my mind that if you put Edwards on a stage with McCain, she'd know more about the McCain health care plan and better grasp its implications than, well, John McCain. Of course, McCain would then just change his mind, and the press would collapse atop itself to declare him honest and independent and sincere.
