The Washington Post confirms some news first reported by Mike DeBonis, that D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty is planning to host a public signing ceremony tomorrow to commemorate the signing of D.C.'s marriage equality bill, which was passed by the City Council on Tuesday.
The local angle, DeBonis explains, is that relations between Fenty and the City Council are pretty strained, and that this would be the first time since 2007 that Fenty has held a public bill signing with the council members in attendance. But for marriage equality activists, the ceremony provides an opportunity to highlight an important victory in a year that has seen fewer of them than they might have expected.
