If I were a smart-aleck blogger, which I guess I am, here’s what I’d write about myself today:
So, Tom Schaller, who compared Hillary Clinton to a cyborg and prematurely announced the end of the Clinton Era at 9:34 EST on Saturday night--three days, mind you, before all but the potentially critical absentee votes in NH that he apparently overlooked were even cast--got a bit ahead of himself in his Baltimore Sun column today:Whether or not Mrs. Clinton can come back to win the nomination, fellow Sen. Barack Obama's victories in Iowa and, last night, in New Hampshire utterly demolished any notion of her inevitability. He is now the clear front-runner, a development that has shaken up not only the Democratic primary but the Republican one as well. What an idiot. No more political predictions for me. I refuse to even predict what shoes I’ll wear tomorrow. Although I will say in retrospect the hunch that came to me during the debate Saturday night about Obama showing a little respect and saying something powerful and gracious about Hillary Clinton might be the one smart thing I said all week. Still, I'm having a double order of humble pie for lunch today. Also, I predict that Bill Richardson's going to win this whole thing. Bank on it.--Tom Schaller
