There's been a certain amount of chatter over Time's decision to finally move from a Monday publishing schedule to a Friday publishing schedule. I'm not a marketing executive nor an ad rep, so I don't much know whether it makes good business sense, but while cleaning up the week's mail today, I came across my Time and actually sat down to read it. Which hasn't happened for awhile.
The magazine's much better than I remember, and it's a fun, fast read for a Sunday afternoon. When it comes on Mondays, it's just not pressing enough to distract from the crush of news stories, blog posts, and political magazines I need to wade through. By Saturday, the six-day-old issue is usually irrelevant. This week's magazine was notably non-newsy, so it help up pretty well for being a bit old, and reading it on a relaxing weekend afternoon was a totally different experience than trying to fit it into my week. One I might actually repeat were the majority of the issues to not retread information I'd previously absorbed. Which, lo and behold, the new Friday schedule will ensure. So count me as a supporter of the new schedule.
