The Obama campaign has just released the ad they'll be playing across the Olympics:
This is the first ad the Obama campaign has released that I really like. People talk a lot about McCain's age, and the need to play up Obama's youth, but the way to do that isn't slyly pointing towards mortality tables, it's creating an atmosphere of energy and promise around the Obama campaign. This ad succeeds. The driving music, the announcer's quick speech, the fast cuts, the futuristic looking technologies and products, all of them get at what's powerful about a youthful candidate without bring age up explicitly. This is an ad that wouldn't work with shots of McCain interwoven through the end. It does work with Obama.
