Laura Turner (who is blogging again! Hooray!) has a good post up highlighting portions of a Foreign Affairs article that talks about HIV prevention in poor countries. One major point: it's bad news if your well-funded anti-HIV work draws away much-needed local staff from other important health issues. She also cites the Brad-Plumer-cited point that since HIV is often transmitted through open sores, fighting other STDs is a good way to fight HIV transmission.
