George Stephanopoulos reported yesterday that "several" high-level staffers from John Edwards' presidential camapaign, once they began to fear that his affair reported in the National Enquirer was real, developed a "doomsday scenario" in which they planned to sabotage his campaign should Edwards start winning.
I'm skeptical of this story for a number of reasons, the first being that no one's gone on record saying this is true. It seems far-fetched at first glance, like something out of a movie. It sounds to me like someone trying to rationalize having been part of what could have been a complete fiasco for the Democratic Party. It's also the perfect crime: a politician isn't going to hire a staffer who would admit to planning to sabotage their candidate, even as a matter of conscience, so it makes perfect sense if no one comes forward and corroborates the story.
There's one thing that's certain, though, and it's the fact that this post was mostly an excuse to post this video:
