Scott Horton has a copy of a letter from a group of military and civilian intelligence experts urging Defense Secretary Robert Gates to eliminate Appendix M from its Army Interrogation Field Manual, which allows tactics groups like Human Rights First still consider abusive. Obama issued an executive order confining all U.S. personnel to the restrictions in the Field Manual early in his presidency.
What's striking to me is how many intelligence and interrogation experts have publicly come out against the use of torture, while those who support it have consistently had to rely on anonymous sources funneled through hacks.
