Ron Paul's history of race-baiting has been well-documented. So it was fascinating just a few minutes ago here at the Paul "Rally for Liberty" in Minneapolis to hear Jesse Ventura, who received a rapturous welcome, defend immigrants, and oppose Paul's position in favor of building a wall along the U.S./Mexico border. "I've been living in Mexico," Ventura said. "I live with those brown-skinned people that we’re so scared of that we’re going to build walls and barbed wires and turn my country into East Berlin." A heckler shouted, "You’re wrong!" A few dozen people tentatively applauded. Ventura continued, "To me, when I look at the United States being turned into East Berlin, it is not the country that I served when I was in the military." Pretty typical of the lack of ideological coherence among Paul supporters. --Dana Goldstein
