- Barack Obama gave a big speech on Iraq this morning where he reiterated his plan to remove all combat troops from the country within 16 months. John McCain hit back with his own Iraq speech, claiming that he knows how to "win wars" and arguing that Obama's judgment is tainted because he was wrong about the surge. This comes on the heels of a new campaign ad from the Obama camp, "America's Leadership," touting the senator's efforts to promote nuclear non-proliferation.
- A Quinnipac poll has Obama with an 9 point national polling lead over John McCain.
- Blue America, a netroots PAC, is planning on running robocalls in select congressional districts to directly confront gas price demagoguery from Freedom's Watch.
- Senate '08: In Colorado, Democratic challenger Mark Udall is maintaining a comfortable 9 point lead over incumbent Republican Bob Schaffer, according to Public Policy Polling [PDF]. In Minnesota, a Rasmussen Poll late last night had Al Franken up by two points over republican incumbent Norm Coleman, but a new SurveyUSA poll has Coleman back up 52-39. And in Louisiana, incumbent Democrat Mary Landrieu is back up 49-44 against Republican John Kennedy, according to Rasmussen.
- Google has created an application that transcribes the text of a candidate's speech and lets you aggregate common phrases to catalog when pols make particular claims.
