After she died, her parents set up the Joan Shorenstein Barone Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy, but Barone's migration to the right led them to quietly drop his name after a few years. In any case, marrying rich is something that, for cultural and logistical reasons, is very hard for poor people to do.
