I actually figured the Obama campaign's fundraising was in trouble when they were angrily telling the Washington Post, who was guessing a slowdown that put them in the $20 millions, that the paper didn't know what it was talking about, That seemed pretty good proof that the paper knew exactly what it was talking about. But wait! June numbers just came out, and the campaign raised over $50 million. So take that, WaPo! Anyway, full fake David Plouffe e-mail after the jump, complete with manufactured sense of crisis. It's actually true that the RNC is quickly outraising the DNC, but the DCCC and DSCC are crushing their Republican counterparts, which means the RNC will be further stretched out. Meanwhile, part of what's going on here is that the Obama campaign has less on hand because they're spending more, and faster, because unlike the McCain campaign/RNC, they don't feel they need to conserve resource for a final sprint at the end. Rather they figure they'll just spend what they need and raise more when they need it.
