Like lots of folks in their twenties, I don't have a land line, so I keep my cell phone on all the time, even when I'm asleep. I like to think that in an emergency, my family always has some way to contact me. When I went to bed at 2:45 a.m. this morning, after packing for two weeks on the road to the Democratic and Republican conventions -- and enduring a close call where I thought I'd lost my wallet -- I was exhausted. I had also already learned, and blogged about, Barack Obama's pick of Joe Biden as his running mate. So I was none too pleased when, at 3:30 a.m., just as I was drifting into a deep sleep, I received a text message. From the Obama campaign. Telling me something I already knew, and that even if I hadn't, I wouldn't have needed to know until the next morning. Was anybody else awakened by the veep text message? Annoyed? --Dana Goldstein
