I've been getting a bunch of e-mails touting that Gallup's tracking poll is showing an Obama bounce, or crowing that Rasmussen's isn't. Forgetting, for a moment, that the advent of tracking polls is one of the worst things to happen to democracy since Nixon switched on the tape recorder, it's probably worth reminding people that the next week-and-a-half will see the DNC's convention, McCain's VP pick, and the RNC convention. In other words, there's going to be an incredible amount of stuff going on. I wouldn't look at polls for an accurate snapshot of the election for two or three weeks -- at a minimum.
