RE: WALT/MEARSHEIMER. To follow up on Matt's post, it sure seems like a lot of the folks in a snit over the Walt/Mearsheimer book haven't, you know, read the thing. It's my private hope that someone will go on TV with one of the detractors and say something like, "I don't understand how you can so totally misrepresent their arguments. You remember their bit on Jordan, where they say [blah blah blah, vaguely plausible point on Jordan/Israel relations]," and when the interlocutor grunts his agreement, say, "okay, now I do understand how you can so totally misrepresent their arguments, because that part doesn't exist, and I don't think you've read the book." --Ezra Klein
