Bob Beckel's case for an Obama/Clinton ticket is probably the strongest I've seen. In part, the argument is actually stronger when freed from the "Unity Ticket" baggage it carried a few months back. The Democratic base was always going to unify, so that wasn't a particularly important consideration on which to base the VP choice. But Beckel argues for Clinton on political grounds: As a politician with proven appeal to voter blocs Obama struggles with (older women, Hispanics, downscale whites, etc), a fundraiser with the ability to add a few hundred million to the ticket's total war chest, a campaigner with a proven history as an effective attack dog, and a resume (and husband) that trumps, or at least equals, McCain's claims of "experience." As it happens, I'm still against Obama picking Clinton, but Beckel's argument is strong, and you can bet the Obama folks are thinking seriously about it.
