So the latest McCain attack is that Barack Obama is uppity presumptuous and has already written a draft of his inaugural address. The evidence? John Podesta, head of the Center for American Progress and former chief of staff to Bill Clinton, released a book last summer that had a) a lot of policy ideas and b) a sample inagural address that mentioned those policy ideas. As The Politico notes, "the book was written when Podesta was advising Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in her race against one Barack Obama." Oops. And the attack relies on the idea that the "eloquent" Obama had no interest in drafting his own inaugural address. So words don't matter to him after all? Double oops. At this point, the McCain campaign is just going through the motions. They need a meteor, not yet another shift in message.
