I'll actually agree with RedState on this one -- the results of last night's election in CA-50 were bad for Democrats. In a race to replace the felonious Duke Cunningham, Francine Busby, the Democrats, managed to capture about 44% of the vote against a fractured Republican field (the race will now move to a runoff). Her result, which precisely synced to the early polling, is a sign that Democrats were no likelier to turnout, and Republicans no likelier to stay home, than in any other year. The hope was that Busby would unexpectedly clear 50%, retaking a House seat and foreshadowing a Democratic wave this November. But while Busby's showing was perfectly respectable, it was not the first shot of a revolution.
