Dave Weigel posts this exchange between a group of young conservatives and Jamie Kelso, a white supremacist organizer. The video is long but worth watching:
A few things. First, the positive: Aside from the random bits of faulty history -- no, Harry Truman was not a member of the Ku Klux Klan -- it was really heartening to see young conservatives rebuff Kelso with a defense of diversity, rather than accuse him of racism and move on. Multiculturalism might still be a little contentious among some older conservatives, but this suggests that it's a nonstarter with their younger counterparts.
That said, it will be a while before these kids are a meaningful part of the conservative electorate, and in the meantime, we have to deal with a movement that elevates professional race-baiters, spreads racial paranoia, and views anti-racism as a bigger problem than actual discrimination against minorities.
