There are times when I feel like I almost can't avoid dotting every post with health reform angles. For instance: The Atlantic has a new food channel. Fun! And today, it features an article by Zeke Emanuel about what it's like to dine with Larry David (answer: annoying, though Emanuel doesn't say that). Zeke Emanuel, as readers of this blog will know, is now one of Peter Orszag's key health reform advisers. See? I keep trying to get out and they keep pulling me back. Sigh. I'll add that Emanuel has a longstanding reputation as a foodie. Long before he ever worked for the White House, he used to send occasional restaurant reviews -- he calls them samizdat reviews" -- to an eclectic list of friends and professional contacts. Below the fold, I've copied his glowing review of Alinea, which probably contains the nicest words an Emanuel has ever said about anyone. It begins: "I never thought I would say it. I did not think it was possible. Could there be a chef better than Charlie Trotter? Grant Achatz of Alinea in Chicago is not simply better, he is phenomenal, in a completely different quantum state than any other chef whose food I have ever had to pleasure to eat."
