Ariel Ron is a professor of economic and political history at Southern Methodist University and a senior policy adviser with the Good Food Institute. He has written for Slate, Dissent, and The Atlantic, as well as for scholarly outlets such as the Cambridge Journal of Economics and The Journal of American History. He is author of the award-winning book Grassroots Leviathan: Agricultural Reform and the Rural North in the Slaveholding Republic.
