Wait, you say, the stimulus bill was $787 billion. Not $1 trillion. Not to Republicans. At this morning's Finance Committee hearing, Senator Chuck Grassley repeatedly referred to the stimulus bill, "a package over $1 trillion when interest on the debt is included." Expect to hear that number a lot: $1 trillion is a more psychologically powerful number than $787 billion. That's in party why the administration worked to keep the bill under the trillion dollar mark. Now it seems that they needn't have bothered.
