Here's a question; why does the Post bother to come up with the "$15,900 for a family of four" metric for the cost of the Iraq War? Why doesn't it just say $4,000 per person? I'm not part of a family of four, but I'd still like my $4,000 back... I suspect that even the Democratic estimate for the cost of the war is an understatement, and in any case there's little indication that we'll stop paying anytime soon. It's also worth thinking about the costs to Iraq, although quantifying the impact of economic chaos, the loss of jobs, the destruction or loss of private property, and finally the enormous destruction of human capital will probably make any specific quantitative determination impossible. --Robert Farley
