I think Rich is largely right that the 2008 election will be dominated by self-styled "agents of change." On the right, McCain, Romney, Giuliani, and Gingrich will all -- fairly or not -- argue that they represent discontinuity. And on the left, Obama, Edwards, and Gore can say the same. The only one lacking such outsider cred is Hillary, which is partially why I'm so bearish on her chances.
