It was only a matter of time, but George Skelton, an institution in California politics, is kicking off the Villaraigosa-for-governor buzz, a full five years before he'd run for the position. In doing, he's already written off the Democratic challengers in the 2006 election, despite the fact that they're routinely beating Arnold in the polls despite bargain-bin name recognition. Weird stuff. In any case, I've not been focusing on the CA gubernatorial election as much as I probably should, but if you want to check out a Democrat with a genuinely interesting vision and approach, take a look at Phil Angelides.
