Reading though Foreign Policy's link-bait feature ranking Obama and McCain's 10 worst ideas is an odd experience. The repetition of "10 worst ideas" suggests equivalence, but in fact, there's no evaluation of magnitude. They just needed 10 from each candidate to ensure symmetry. But McCain's bad ideas might result in the deaths of many, many, many people. They would hasten global warming, or fail to fully address it. They would create new international institutions meant to exclude Russia and China and hasten great power conflict. Obama, by contrast, might "tax oil companies extra," or authorize a kill strike on Osama bin Laden if actionable intelligence places him in Pakistan (bipartisan policy, by the way). It's pretty weird.
