This 10-minute trailer for BioShock Infinite suggests the game is drawing on the history of right-wing political movements in the United States. The developers previously indicated that "American Exceptionalism" was going to be the guiding theme behind the third game in the series, and the setting seems to have a right-wing populist flavor. The first sight we see in the trailer is a mural that depicts George Washington as Moses, holding the Bill of Rights as the Ten Commandments, the light of the Liberty Bell beating back the huddled immigrant masses, who are represented as racial caricatures. Nearby signs warn that "they" intend to take your "guns" your "wife" and your "business."

This draws on pretty familiar historical themes as far as right-wing movements go, particularly the idea of the Constitution being more than just America's founding legal document but actually a kind of pseudo-scripture with a divine mandate. The previous two games, in imagining libertarian and religious collectivist governments, dealt with ideas that are pretty abstract in the American context. This is still very fantastic, but a bit more familiar.
