Folks have been agitating for Barack Obama to break down his economic plan. Here is a two-minute television commercial that he's released today (transcript after the jump) outlining his goals. It's nothing new to anyone who has followed Obama's economic positions, but the campaign's goal is probably reaching out to exactly the opposite crowd. Pundits, especially on the left, want the Democratic senator to outline his positive approach to the economy, as opposed to simply tearing John McCain down, and this effort -- simple, personal and calming -- sort of reminds one of FDR's fire-side chats. (An analogy too far?)
In the closing lines, he rejects the "outworn" ideas of the right and the left, a necessary but silly bit of rhetoric -- when was the last time anyone tried to implement a leftist economic policy? Discuss!
