BURN THE NEXT TWO VILLAGES TO SAVE IT I did a Cato health panel the other day wherein a woman said that we'd need to let the current system collapse, then try single-payer and let that fail, and only then would we get to the market-driven utopia we needed. I call it "the burn the village and then burn the next village to save it" theory of health reform, and it seems like something we should try to convince all conservatives of stat. As Kevin Drum notes, it appears Arnold Kling already believes the same thing, and since we liberals actually think our ideas will work, convincing the right that Medicare-for-All is a necessary step on the path to HSAs-for-All would be a good thing indeed.
