Nothing too striking was said at the White House presser announcing Kathleen Sebelius as secretary-designate for Health and Human Services and Nancy Ann DeParle as director of the Office of Health Reform. The most important signal, in fact, might have been the people standing silently on the right-hand side of the stage: Max Baucus and Henry Waxman. Their inclusion was a significant sign of respect. Were Kennedy well, there's little doubt that he'd have been on stage as well. But the fact that Waxman was the Energy and Commerce member standing next to the president suggests that he's not planning to cede control of health reform to John Dingell.
